Stelios Gavalas is born in Athens in 1966. He attends the School of Fine Arts, Athens in 1985, works under the guidance of the famous sculptors Nikolaidis and Papagiannis and graduates with honours in 1990.
Stelios Gavalas then lives and works in Sydney Australia (1992-1994), where he cooperates with the School of Arts in Sydney and experiments with various materials in his work.
Since 1998 Stelios Gavalas works for the Ministry of Culture in Athens at the Archeological Receipts Fund. He works in the service of most archeological museums, where he has produced casts from original ancient artifacts and has contributed towards the conservation of Acropolis monuments.
Stelios Gavalas has conducted 8 solo exhibitions in Greece and participated in many group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. His last exhibition takes place in 2013 (“Utopia” Ikastikos Kiklos Kolonaki Athens).
